It’s already July, which means that we are officially halfway through 2019! To top that off, it’s officially been 6 months since I started the blog! How crazy is that?
June has exceeded all my expectations in so many fashions.
Only a few of my friends knew this, but I was a bit concerned heading into the Summer session. I worried that Willyburg would be a ~ghost town~ and there wouldn’t be anyone to spend my crucial Summer days with.
Man, was I wrong.
I found a wonderful group of friends on campus for the Summer, some taking classes and others doing research. You can read about just a few of the shenanigans we were up to in my last post, A Day In My Life as a Summer Researcher.
I also made a best friend this Summer! Her name is Margot (but I call her lil goat or Margarita) and she’s also a Tri Delta. Neither of us have any idea why we weren’t close before this Summer, but we definitely plan to spend a lot more time together in the future. (You’ll see her in lots of my pictures, so I thought I’d introduce this lovely girl right off the bat.)
Okay, now into my favorites!
Music
As always, I made a Spotify playlist with my fav bops from the month named JUN 19. The vibe is a bit more chill, but there are some really catchy bops on there nonetheless.
If you’re in a rush and can’t listen to the whole thing, here are the 3 I recommend you listen to:
- Saw You in a Dream — The Japanese House (thanks for the rec, marg)
- The City Holds my Heart — Ghostly Kisses
- Come Inside of My Heart — IV Of Spades

I made a few more playlists throughout the month, including: elton 19, beach 19, and bbq 19. Feel free to check those out!
Beauty
Anyone who has seen me in the past few weeks has probably heard me gush about my new haircut. People have always told me that I’m a short hair girl — it fits my personality better I guess? So, I’ve kept it at collarbone length for a few months now.
However, when I was in Arlington for a weekend (for the Ariana concert!) I decided to take a little trip to PR Partners. A bit spontaneously, I took off 4 inches off my already medium-length hair. It hasn’t been this short since I was in grade school, but I absolutely love it.
The short hair has been so much fun to style. Curl it? Fun and spunky. Straighten it? Sleek and professional. The only sad thing is that I can’t throw it into my classic ESM French braids. Still worth it!

Clothes
I have been doing a bit of post-konmari shopping because 👏 I 👏 deserve 👏 it 👏 That said, I’ve been going a bit crazy.
Here’s what I got at the Francesca’s outlet with my girlfriend and fellow Tri Delt, Jeannette. (I call her Jeanie.)

Here’s what I splurged on at South Moon Under (my very favorite store ever) with Margot.

Here’s what I got at a little boutique in Stone Harbor called Mimi’s with my mom. It was mostly Free People and Billabong.

Fitness
As my loyal followers know, I’m a big cardio gal. I love nothing more than popping in some headphones and watching an episode of the Bachelorette for an hour while I mindlessly run 6 miles. We love multitasking… or maybe it’s just my justification for watching trashy reality TV. Either way, it’s my go-to lazy workout.
Although I personally prefer running inside an air-conditioned gym on an elliptical, I recently ran a 5k hosted by the Dog Street Pub in CW. I went together with the Summer gang — and although I was wheezing the whole time, I also had a lot of fun! (That said, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t mostly motivated by the free t-shirt you get after running 5 weeks.)
Lately, a friend of mine named Jack has been helping me learn how to lift weights. I’ve been doing weighted squats, lifting barbells and dumbbells, and a few other things I don’t really know the term for. I’ll update you guys when I get into the routine of lifting regularly!
Cardio is great for working up a sweat, burning fat, raising endorphin levels, and improving heart health. Weight lifting has shown me that there’s so much more to a good workout, including the wonderfully powerful feeling of being sore the next day. I feel more strong, empowered, and healthy, even after just a few workouts.
Movies/TV
Run, don’t walk, to see Rocketman. My mom and I have always been huge Elton John fans, so we freaked out when this movie came out. I know practically all the words to practically all of his songs, which makes watching the movie even more fun. I have seen it 3 times in theaters already — and I plan to see it a few more.
Also Taron Egerton. *heart eye emoji* That’s it, send tweet.
Also, who else has been completely entertained by this season of the Bachelorette??? I love Hannah Beast more than words can say, because she communicates exactly what she wants out of a relationship and doesn’t take shit from anyone.
I personally would choose Tyler C. or Peter the Pilot (how adorable is that man) … if I was ever the Bachelorette, God willing. That said, I have a feeling that she while end up choosing Jed, the outfit-repeating troubadour.
Memories
Like I mentioned earlier, I made a lot of great memories during the month of June. You can read more about some of those (including the Summer gang I hung out with on campus) in my last post. For now, here’s a photo dump.

Looking back at this incredibly eventful month, I only have one thing to say: thank u, June.
